It was not the first raisin bran cereal or for that matter even the best.
Kelloggs's was big though and new the market.
It's raisin brand cereal grew in popularity over the years and today is the best known raisin bran of all.
A lot of that popularity comes from having good advertising slogans - "Two scoops of raisins in Kellogg's Raisin Bran", and having a very well liked cereal mascot in the form of a happy sunshine by the name of Sunny.
Sunny was introduced in 1966 and has been pushing Kelloggs's Raisin Bran on people ever since.
I thought he might quit the job when Kellogg's stopped using natural cane sugar on the raisins and switched to high-fructose corn syrup, but nope... Sunny stuck with the job.
High-fructose corn syrup or not - Sunny is a cool cereal mascot and makes for a sweet tattoo.
